PDO Bio Lifting Thread is a method based on the implantation of multiple threads of Polidioxanone. These threads create a vector network that acts as a support of the tissues, alleviating the effects of the dreaded flaccidity and undesirable wrinkles. ¿HOW DOES IT WORK?

Bio Lifting Thread is used to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. This technique uses a PDO or Polydioxanone. These sutures are used to sew tissue or blood vessels in the body, then, the thread is gradually eliminated from the body within six months. The areas which were originally placed with threads will stimulate the creation of new blood vessels. As a result, the cells will create collagen fibers. With the formation of new collagen, the skin will tighten. Using this technique, you will have arejuvenated and tightened skin.

¿HOW IS THE PROCEDURE?

To alleviate any discomfort a topical anaesthetic can be applied and massaged into the treated area, and the entire treatment takes between 15 – 45 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. The doctor will draw the insertion points with a white pencil over the treatment area, following the orientation and directions of gravity. The threading wires are then implanted into this designed supportive structure, without the need for anchor.

¿Does it have contraindications?

The procedure itself is minimally invasive and does cause micro-injuries to layers within the skin. As such, patients are given a local anaesthetic before their treatment which will ensure that they remain comfortable and relaxed throughout.

¿What areas can I treat?

PDO therapy can be successfully used on various areas of the face including the cheeks, brow, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawline and neck. It can also be used on the body, arms, thighs and abdomen. Dr. Mata will be able to advise you if PDO thread lifting is a suitable treatment option for the area that you wish to target.

¿When will I see the results, and how long do they last?

It is important for patients to be aware that the results of a PDO thread lift are progressive. This is because they rely on the body’s natural production of collagen which takes time, rather than administering man-made versions into the skin. The lifting effect of PDO therapy reaches a peak at around 6 months post-treatment, after which time new collagen and elastin will have formed around the threads to tighten the skin and make the area look firmer, smoother and more youthful. The effects of treatment can potentially last between 2 and 3 years, after which time further treatment may be necessary to maintain your results.
